This project was developed in the framework of the collaboration with Out for Space. OFS manufactures a cotton fleece reinforced veneer made from rattan that can be shaped three-dimensionally, named Karuun.
Tools to lift up food products, inspired by the packaging-free supermarkets were created. Through user studies, we identified common and intuitive gestures. The goal was to have users experience these gestures in a new way through the tools. Dispensing with handles in order to create a direct link to the food product and its quantity. Different tools lead to different approaches of scooping, an activity that is primal in the most undisguised way.
In collaboration with Paula Mühlena and OFS.
